Understanding Screening Metrics
Market Cap
The total value of a company's shares. Large-cap ($10B+) tends to be more stable, while small-cap ($300M-$2B) may have higher growth potential but more risk.
P/E Ratio
Price-to-Earnings ratio. A lower P/E might indicate an undervalued stock, while a higher P/E could mean high growth expectations. Compare within the same sector.
Dividend Yield
Annual dividend payment as a percentage of stock price. Higher yields provide income, but very high yields (5%+) may indicate risk. Many growth stocks pay no dividend.
52-Week Range
Shows where the current price falls between its yearly low and high. Stocks near their low might be opportunities or warning signs—research is key.
